Lights, Camera, Vision!

 For our AS Level project, our team has decided to create a two-minute film opening. With a solid understanding of the chosen project and proper guidance, we feel confident in our approach. As a result, we’ve chosen not to create a magazine cover, as it doesn’t align with our strengths or interests. Instead, we're excited to dive into the world of film and bring our vision to life!


Our goal is to create something unique that sets us apart from others in media production. We’re leaning towards a blend of thriller and horror, as we believe this combination will allow us to craft an engaging atmosphere filled with suspense and tension. We’re eager to explore the emotions these genres evoke while adding our own creative spin. Our aim is to leave a lasting impact on our audience with a project that's both distinctive and intriguing.

My team and I agreed on this direction because we all share a strong knowledge and enjoyment of these genres. Additionally, we saw it as an opportunity to showcase the skills and talents each of us brings to the table, making this project a chance to highlight our individual strengths.

Though we are classmates, this is our first time working together on a project, and we’re excited to incorporate all our ideas to achieve a successful outcome.

Genre Conventions

My team and I conducted our own research and analyzed the key elements present in each genre. I have put together a spreadsheet that breaks down each genre, covering its common themes, character types, cinematography, sound, mise-en-scène, editing, and a reference movie. I have analyzed seven genres: action, horror, comedy, thriller, sci-fi, romance, and mystery. Starting with action, it typically revolves around themes of injustice or revenge. often leading to chaos or even the potential end of the world. This appeals to audiences as it blends familiar elements with unexpected twists, making the outcome less predictable. Moving on to my favorite—horror. Textual Analysis #1

In my whole life, I never thought I would be in a position to sit down and do an analysis of my favourite cartoon series. First of all, in order to begin to analyze, I took the simplest, but at the same time the most time-consuming type of media. I might be judged for choosing a kids’ show, but I am still a kid at heart, and I still watch cartoons that I like from time to time. It is almost like a way of keeping my inner child alive and the program I have chosen for my analysis is Paw Patrol.
